The Embodied Masculine is a 200 hour yoga teacher training for men of color offered in collaboration with Satya Yoga Cooperative, and Liberation U

A nine-month immersion into yoga as a path of healing, embodiment, consciousness, and action for these times

This is an Offering for a World in Transition

We are living in a time of collapse and reckoning—of systems, identities, and ways of relating that are no longer sustainable.

Patriarchy is unraveling.

Community is fraying.

Many men are isolated, exhausted, and carrying more than they know how to hold.

This training is an offering of healing for these times.

The Embodied Masculine Yoga Teacher Training invites men of color into a deep exploration of yoga as a whole, ancient, and living system—one uniquely suited to help us heal from the forces that fracture wholeness and keep us in separation.

Yoga, when taught with integrity and context, is a technology of integration: mind, body, spirit; self and other; individual and collective. It offers not an escape from the world, but a way to meet it with presence, strength, tenderness, and ethical clarity.

A return to wholeness through body, breath, inquiry, and community.

Why Men? Why Now?

What makes this training different?

This is not yoga that bypasses reality.

Yoga here is not separated from history or power. We explicitly acknowledge how patriarchy, racism, colonialism, caste hierarchy, and capitalism fracture wholeness and train us into separation from our bodies, from each other, from the Earth.

Yoga is uniquely suited to help heal that fragmentation by meeting it fully.

Yoga is an ancient, tried-and-true system of mind–body–spirit integration, grounded in practice, discipline, inquiry, and relationship.

Lakshmi Nair

Lead facilitator

  • Lakshmi is the founder of Satya Yoga Cooperative and the creator of one of the first BIPOC-centered yoga teacher trainings in the United States.

She came to yoga not as a lifestyle, but as a lifeline—rebuilding her relationship with her body, nervous system, and inner authority after leaving an abusive marriage.

As a South Asian woman, yoga is both her ancestral inheritance and a site of critical inquiry. Her work lives in the tension between devotion and discernment, lineage and liberation.

With over 20 years of practice and more than a decade of training teachers, Lakshmi is known for grounded, skillful space-holding rooted in humility, care, and relational integrity.

This training is a co-created learning field, offered in service of healing and community.

Dr. L. Xochitl Vallejos

Assistant facilitator

  • Dr. L. Xochitl Vallejos, Ph.D., LPC is a licensed psychotherapist, professor, and embodiment practitioner whose work bridges yoga, somatics, and relationship anarchy. She brings a trauma-aware, liberation-rooted approach to embodiment, supporting men in developing grounded presence, emotional literacy, and ethical leadership through the body. Her background includes decades of experience in psychotherapy, somatic practice, meditation, and teaching at the graduate level, with a focus on integrating personal healing with relational responsibility and community care.

Program Overview

The Embodied Masculine Yoga Teacher Training offers a comprehensive exploration of yoga as a path of healing, embodiment, and leadership for men. The curriculum follows the chakra system as embodied developmental map—from root to crown—-through which students cultivate awareness of the body, heart, mind, and deeper Self. It merges traditional yogic teachings with modern psychological, somatic, and social frameworks to help men reclaim full spectrum presence—grounded, compassionate, awake.

This program will be hybrid….asynchronous, self paced portions completed through the online platform Liberation U.

Monthly day-long, in person community sessions will be on the first Saturdays of the month (with exceptions for holidays and prior commitments) in Denver for Denver residents. In person enrollment is capped at 15 participants.

Weekend sessions will also be conducted via zoom for participants outside of Denver (space limited)

The Training Path

The Embodied Masculine follows the Satya Yoga Co-op Immersion & Teacher Training model, adapted specifically for men and masculine embodiment.

A Two Part Pathway

Part 1: Yoga Immersion 6 months (April 2026-September 2026)

• No prior yoga experience required

• Adaptable for a wide range of bodies and capacities

• Emphasis on embodied self-inquiry and community

Core areas of study include:

• Yoga history and philosophy (Yoga Sutras)

• Asana fundamentals and functional anatomy

• Subtle energy (chakras, bandhas, prana vayus)

• Sanskrit basics and mantra

• Ayurveda and holistic health

• How oppression lives in the body and nervous system

• Journaling, reflection, and sharing circles

This phase is about coming home to yourself.

Part 2: Teacher Training 3 months (October 2026-December 2026)

Learn to share yoga with others—in communities, families, organizations, or teaching spaces.

Focus areas include:

• Ethical, trauma-aware teaching

• Sequencing and class design

• Voice, presence, and consent-based touch

• Modifications and special populations

• Teaching practicum and mentorship

• Practical foundations for sharing yoga responsibly

Graduates are prepared to teach foundational yoga classes and facilitate men’s circles with integrity and care.

This training supports strength without rigidity, leadership without domination, and healing as a form of courage.

  • Satya Yoga Cooperative's Yoga Teacher Training for BIPOC changed my life. Personally, I feel more aligned in my body, in my values, and in my life purpose. I have gained deep personal insights and tangible skills that I can offer to my community in the form of breath work, yoga postures, and spiritual development. I feel grounded, nourished, poised, and well resourced to support folks on their own healing journeys. Satya has given me and my community a pathway towards self-love, ancient Ayurvedic tools for re-negotiating the impacts of trauma, and deeply inspiring indigenous teachings from the Indian subcontinent about union, peace, and spiritual enlightenment. What more could I ever ask for!?! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! My cup if overflowing with love and respect and gratitude for Satya!

The YTT at Satya has been one of the most illuminating and integral experiences of my life. I was looking for a new path and I found many. I was looking for a new place to belong and I found it here. I wanted teachings that were more than just asanas and “fitness yoga,” and I found a deep connection with myself, with meditation and breathing practices. I found my people and an experience that will resonate with me far beyond just the practice of yoga. Lakshmi is a divine human bean and I am starstruck by her wisdom and her warmth, her compassion is vast and visible, and is easily one of my all-time favorite teachers. I can’t sing my praises enough—if you’re considering Satya, then you’re in the right place.

Accessible pricing opens once a sustainable cohort size is reached. This structure allows us to balance collective care, fair compensation to our facilitators, and wider access. Your early commitment helps make the training more accessible to others.

Note: This training is open to men across gender histories who are interested in exploring masculinity as an energy, practice, and relational field-not a role to perform or a hierarchy to defend.

Rooted in tantric philosophy, this training works with masculinity as something that lives in relationship— to femininity, to community, to the collective, and to the Earth.

This space is intentionally designed to honor difference while cultivating shared responsibility and mutual respect. No one version of masculinity is centered as “correct.”

This is a space for inquiry, practice, and becoming-together.
